Clean your brushes regularly to eliminate trapped dirt, grime, and bacteria. For those with fine hair, it's best to use a comb with closely spaced teeth. Look for a comb with teeth that are smooth and rounded, as sharp teeth can cause damage to fine hair. Our French Handmade hair combs are handcrafted from cellulose acetate which is a biodegradable material that is very flexible. These combs are polished and smoothed by hand for smooth, shiny edges which will not cause any damage to your fine hair.

Taylor recommends this brush for fine hair with waves or curls to style, shape and define your hair’s natural texture, she says. You can use it to define curls before air-drying or to smooth hair when blow-drying, and the nylon pins are also staggered, which allows for maximum tension, according to the brand. “It works on a dry scalp while also doubling as a shampoo brush,” she says. “It is thick and flexible, waterproof and safe to use on all hair types.” The nubs deliver gentle pressure, and it has a handle that makes it comfortable to grip, according to the brand. My favorite ones are this orange satin kind that I typically find by the hair brushes at Target. Of all the products I’ve used to wet set or pin curl my hair, pillow rollers with a satin bonnet are by far the most comfortable to sleep in.

Determine your hair type

Separate and fluff your hair with this comb from natural hair icon Tracee Ellis Ross. The evenly-spaced, wide-set teeth feature curved ends that detangle in each section. When it comes to using a comb to care for and style your hair, you may feel as though there’s no rocket science to it—especially if you’re a guy with short hair. And sure, it may not be the most complex styling tool to master, but there are certain tips and tricks you should know about how to comb your hair.

For those with thick hair, a comb with widely spaced teeth is best for you. It's also important to look for a comb with sturdy teeth that won't break. Our Large Thick Hair Side Comb is perfect for thick hair, designed to provide superior comfort with its wide-toothed curved finish, allowing it to easily curve to the shape of your head.

When you encounter a large knot, hold the hair above it and gently pull against this as an anchor rather than the hair root; you want to avoid pulling the entire hair out from the follicle. Most people assume they should comb hair after washing it, but in fact the best way to ensure tangle-free hair is to brush out knots before even getting in the shower. Then, rather than scrubbing you should apply the shampoo close to the roots and gently massage the product onto your scalp and into your hair. Thoroughly rinse and dab your hair dry with a towel, rather than rubbing as this will only force you to comb the hair again. The squiggly teeth work to evenly distribute hair across the entire length, which helps prevent snagging.

I especially like that the teeth are slimmer on this brush compared to others, such as the PATTERN Beauty model, because I can create a more precise part as necessary. How you work combs through your hair is equally as important as what type of comb you use, according to our experts. For instance, “it's more effective to work with smaller sections, which allows you to maintain better control, preventing tangles and the need for excessive force when using the comb,” says Trygstad.

Combs are also versatile — they can typically be used during or after a shower to detangle or comb through a hair mask. Sometimes they can be paired with your hot tools, such as a flat iron or hair dryer, for a smooth, straight look. Those with thick, curly, or coily hair types will also love combs because they can help enhance your natural texture and give you that carefree fluffy look, like Diana Ross. Multiple experts recommended this brush for fine or thinning hair types. It works on both wet and dry hair, and has two bristle lengths that offer more flexibility for brushing wet hair with minimal damage, according to the brand.

For detangling, Ryan Trygstad, hair stylist and cofounder of Mark Ryan Salon in New York City, reaches for this brush. “With its longer bristles, it excels at effortlessly detangling hair,” he says, adding that it’s especially good for medium to thick textures. The bristles are also flexible to minimize snagging, and the brush has a vented cushion that allows for airflow and reduces the time it takes to blow dry hair, according to the brand. Fine-toothed combs also come in fishtail or rat-tail versions, where the comb features a thin, sharp handle on one end that helps create more precise parts.

Usually made of rubber or plastic, wide-toothed combs are the best combs to use on wet hair. They’re more forgiving and manage to untangle any knots with minimal damage. As you comb, spray in TRESemmé Pro Pure Detangle and Smooth Leave-In Conditioner to make the process faster and smoother. The most effective way to prevent breakage is to learn how to properly brush your hair. Start at the bottom of each section of hair, and gradually work through knots as you encounter them on your way to the top of the section. Detangling spray and wide-toothed or wooden combs are always a good idea.

Say goodbye to the painful hot combs of your childhood that heat up in a little oven at your local beauty salon. Modern technology has made the pro-grade tech available in consumer-friendly ways, such as this Barbie pink option from UNice. Protect your scalp and strands with these gentle, beauty-editor-approved combs. As our resident hair-obsessed Leo beauty editor, I have tried dozens of combs over the years across all budgets.

I started on the left side of my head and broke the section into two sections. I apply a teeny pump of my setting lotion the hair I’m about to roll and make sure there are no tangles. Whether you favor a brush or a comb, it's vital to keep your hair's overall health in mind when grooming to ensure that it always looks and feels its best. To achieve peak hair health, you might need to unlearn some bad hair habits or harmful hair myths that aren't doing your mane any favors.

When you think of classic Hollywood starlets like Marilyn Monroe or Rita Hayworth, this is the haircut they had. The length of the hair can vary, but ultimately the cut is the same shape. However, using the wrong brush or comb can actually end up damaging your hair, leading to breakage, frizz, split ends, and more. Clearly, the task of choosing your next brush or comb isn't as mundane as it seems. So before you make any decisions, it's certainly worth it to stop and consider the needs of your individual mane.

The handle has an ergonomic design, and the round barrel makes it ideal for straightening hair, according to the brand. The rake comb moves easier through thick or tangled hair without as much pain, anguish, and hair loss that can be caused by combs that have teeth that are placed closer together. This comb will also save you time in detangling your hair and most versions of the rake comb sport a handle that makes it much easier and quicker to use. You should always comb your hair gently and with a wide-toothed brush without poky ends so it is gentle on your scalp and hair.

Mass production of combs began at this time and progressed into the comb industry it is in today’s market. Comb your hair at least twice a day, once in the morning and once at night, to eliminate loose hair and stimulate hair growth. Regardless of which of my Best Tested, beauty editor-approved combs you select, you’ll be in good hands and won’t have to spend a lot of money. The only outlier is the UNice electric hot comb, but I’ll justify its higher price tag in a bit.

Combing your hair helps to get rid of dirt, chemicals, and buildup at the roots and scalp and also helps to open up the pores. Combing the hair is necessary to detangle it and add shine and health to the strands. A well-groomed hair is essential for looking impressive as it adds to your personality.

11 Different Types of Combs

This type of comb is produced to be extra sturdy and durable so it can be used to comb very thin hair or really thick or curly, coarse hair. You can use it to comb out your hair and style it or just to simply touch it up. This popular wooden comb features rigid, sturdy wide teeth with rounded edges for pain-free detangling. Nicole Saunders is the beauty editor at Best Products with over seven years of experience researching, writing, and editing lifestyle content.

How to Comb Your Hair (Men)

Since wet or damp hair tends to be weaker and more prone to breakage than dry hair, this comb is gentler and will cut down on the number of split ends in your hair. Very similar to a rake comb, the pick comb is created to lift the hair and move easily through thick, curly, or tangled hair. The teeth are placed widely apart and it has a short handle, making it easier to move it through the hair. I personally use a pick every day on my naturally curly hair and prefer it over any other style of the comb. It works great when curly, thick hair is wet or damp and you can also tease the hair with it.

Use the right hair comb & brush

Type 4 hair is almost always dry, requiring tons of moisture to maintain those magnificent curls. Because it is so dry, this hair type is typically also very prone to frizz and breakage. Get the best of both worlds with this dual-sided comb, which has 3C to 4C hair in mind but works for all hair types. The tips of all the teeth are rounded, and while one side has long, wide teeth for initial detangling, the other has short, two-tiered teeth for small tangles and finishing up the job.

Pattern by Tracee Ellis Ross Wide Tooth Comb

This tool specifically sections hair and infuses volume into kinky or poufy hairstyles. They feature a heated core that is designed to extend heat distribution, allowing hair to shape to the brush. As a bonus, they're also far less damaging than traditional straighteners and other heat tools, making them ideal for safely styling fragile hair. Designed for all hair types and textures, Briogeo's wide-tooth comb does double duty as a post-shower detangler and an in-shower treatment. Even people with the tightest coils will find that this glides right through wet hair. Just like a flat iron (but with teeth), a straightening comb is an electronic tool used to straighten out wavy, kinky or curly hair.

If you're fresh out of the pool or shower, it's difficult to comb out your tangles without damaging your wet, vulnerable hair. With a few tips, you can give your scalp a break by making combing easier and pain-free. The boars that these brushes source their bristles from are usually farmed specifically for their hair. When the time comes, they are shorn of their hair similar to the way that wool is shorn from a sheep, without causing any harm to the animals.

A fine-toothed comb can get snagged on knots and lead to accidental breakage. Most typically used with curly hair, a hair pick gives volume and lift to natural-textured hairstyles like the afro. They come with long teeth and short handles (much like a paintbrush, but with hard bristles).

Limitless 8.5" Carbon Cutting Comb

Rat tail combs feature a long, thin handle and densely packed, evenly-spaced, short plastic teeth. My editor-tested combs are made from plastic, which is the most common material. It’s also inexpensive, can typically be used on wet or dry hair for greater styling variety, and is sturdy.

Best tools for type 2 hair

In this ultimate guide, we will explore the different types of combs available and provide tips for selecting the perfect one for your hair. Typically, women that have naturally curly hair or particularly long hair are most likely to run into trouble combing and detangling their hair. Luckily, it takes only a few easy precautionary measures to avoid tangled hair and it all starts with knowing when and how to brush your hair.

This helps make rolling those little ends easier, as well as ensuring a nice curl in the morning. Combing your hair is one of those simple, daily tasks that’s easy to forget about or even ignore completely. However, if you dedicate some time to doing it right, proper combing can bring an outfit together, make you look perfect for a special event, or even change your whole sense of style. Whether you’re going for suave and sophisticated or cool and collected, knowing how to comb will help you look better than ever before. Just like the name implies, the all-purpose comb is used to comb the hair of men, women, and children for a variety of reasons.

Reviewers note that it does take longer to comb through your hair with this, but they're left with weightless curls. I most recently named the brand’s signature hairbrush as our best overall pick, and this comb is another hit worthy of your money. Caring for your hair properly is just as important as the brush you choose, says Ashley. When using a brush or a comb, start from the ends and work your way up to the roots — not from the roots down, which can lead to breakage, according to our experts. Simple and straightforward, the humble hair comb is the definitive hair tool we all need.

Studies confirm that delicate hair should not be brushed often and that a plastic brush should be avoided to comb the hair as it can harm the scalp and cause hair loss. The hair should be brushed gently as the excessive friction during rough combing can cause split ends and breakage. Combing curly hair correctly can make a huge difference in the health and overall keeping of your curly hair. Afro-textured hair requires a different approach than hair with loose curls or ringlets. Even with the best hair brushing techniques, there still may be a few tangles left in after washing.

8 Men's Hair Tutorials to Achieve a Professional Haircut At Home

cut men hair

This haircut for men features a clean bald fade on the sides and back with thick curly hair on top. The curly hair fade is one of the best styles these days because it takes advantage of the unique texture curls have to offer. This slicked back undercut is a great example of a stylish modern men’s hairstyle. With long brushed back hair and a full beard, this masculine look is a real man’s man haircut, even if the hair on top is a bit longer.

Slicked Mid Fade Comb Over

In this photo, the textured style stands out even more with the addition of some blond highlights, and the edge up adds another layer of personality. Style this one by adding wax or pomade, then twisting sections of hair at the ends with your fingers. Like beard trimmers, you’ll sometimes find ear hair trimmers that have attachments. This could be different styles of blades–like trimmers that come with both rotary and side mounted blades–and also things like length combs for eyebrows. If you’re going to use it to trim more than just your ear or nose hair, consider if you’ll likely need or want attachments.

Bald Fade with Slick Back

Most guys will ask their barber for a fade or undercut to complement the longer top. The crew cut hairstyle can be styled textured, messy, spiky, or swept to the side. To style the crew cut, you’ll want to use a good men’s hair product like a matte pomade, wax or clay. Guys with thin or thinning hair should use clay for a textured finish that will make their hair look thicker.

Short Haircut For Curly Hair

Similarly to cutting your sides, you want to move about ¼ of an inch back after every time you cut. Begin cutting the top, starting from the front and working towards the back. If you can imagine yourself with a mohawk – the mohawk region is where you're trimming. Repeat, going a little bit higher but not into the transition zone.Move upward 1/4 of an inch at a time – the smoother movements usually result in a cleaner look. Now you want to set up the space where you're going to cut your hair.

It all starts with the cut, which is perfectly angled to allow the length to come to a point on one side of the face. The texture on top along with the high taper fade makes this an interesting cut. This spiky quiff with mid taper fade and hard part just looks stylish and handsome.

Short Tight Curls with Mid Bald Fade

You can get away with shampooing less frequently (once every three to four days will suffice) and you’ll require less product than medium-length hairstyles like the quiff. However, the style will visibly grow out faster, so aim to rebook every few weeks — and browse some of the best short haircuts for men to take with you, below. The fringe is a cool hairstyle for modern guys who want to style longer hair in the front. Fringe haircuts come with tapered sides and short hair on top with slightly longer bangs.

Textured Crop

But why not add drama to this men’s hairstyle by adding a surprise design? The best way to successfully pull this look off to maximum impact is by combining it with long hair. Check out The Last Kingdom TV character Uhtred and recreate this manly and cool hairstyle. These popular haircuts for men get their height from textured, kinky, or curly hair.

Wavy Hair

Here, longer hair in the front is paired with shorter hair in the back that gradually fades to skin near the ears and nape. The height requires some product with hold, and the slight texture is effortless to achieve with a wide-tooth comb. Making a personal statement with your hairstyle is all about choosing one that you love – and one that you enjoy styling each day. This taper fade comb over may look high maintenance, but it’s actually relatively easy to get. The bold part and the swept-over height are the base of the look, and the two lines near the neck add a unique twist.

It’s among the best hairstyles for balding men, and the brave and the bold alike. It may be zero maintenance, but there are ways to elevate its appearance with facial strands, beard styles, or a tattoo design. The high and tight hairstyle requires shaving or closely cutting the sides and back of the hair while keeping the top a little bit longer.

Long and straight hair looks equally at home in the boardroom as it does in a festival field and there are plenty of guys with long hair to prove this point. But texture is king for this style, so it’s ideal for all ethnicities, so long as you know how to grow your hair out naturally or by using hair growth products. Long hair with a slick back is a superior way to manage and control longer locks.

For the last few years, fades have dominated the world of the best haircuts for men. They are modern, eye-catching, and allow you to showcase your personality. A fade is the transition of the hair on the back and sides tapering down to skin and leaves you free to get creative, so long as you pair the look with a long top. From the late 1900s through to the swinging sixties and naughty nineties, curtain hairstyles have withstood the test of time.

The hair is then blended with the back and sides and shorter than the top to showcase the contrasting cut. If you are looking for compliments, then a high fade tops the short haircuts for men chart and will guarantee you get those admiring looks. Modern and sleek with longer hair on the top blending downward to very short hair on the sides and back, it’s a top trending style. This clean-cut will draw attention to the striking shapes it creates. Some short haircuts for men say a lot about your personality, so let yours do the talking. We can thank George Clooney for making a comb-over one of the most sought-after short haircuts for men.

For a classic men’s haircut that is bound to impress in professional business settings or social events, the Ivy League is a good choice. Just ask your barber for 2 to 3 inches on top with some type of fades on the sides, and style your hair naturally. The quiff remains a fashionable, sleek hairstyle choice for any style-savvy guy.

55 Best Short Haircuts For Men Fresh Hairstyles in 2024

With extra length on the top and short faded sides, the main challenges of the modern quiff haircut come from the intensive styling requirements. Although the final look of this trendy medium-length style is worth the effort, a lot of men simply don’t have the time or energy to style their hair every morning. Styling a quiff will require a blow dryer on high-heat and a pomade, wax or putty with strong hold. For a messy look, apply your styling product evenly throughout and then simultaneously brush back and blow dry. Afterwards, use your fingers or comb your hairs into place as desired.

Mid Fade With Brushed Back Hair

If you cut hair so it's all the same length, it won't have a lot of definition and it may look flat. By adding layers to medium-length hair, you can make the style stand out even more. While every head of hair is different and people will want varying styles, you can easily trim their hair as long as you have a bit of patience and the proper tools.

Textured French Crop with Skin Fade

cut men hair

There are many ways to style a quiff, but this undercut fade is the most popular since it works so well for a variety of hair types and lengths. The undercut keeps styling simple while drawing the eye to the texture and touchable flow on top. Use a product that offers up some hold to keep the volume, but be sure that it still allows for some movement at the same time. The clean-cut side part is making a huge comeback, especially when paired with a skin fade. To get this style, you will need a product that offers quite a bit of shine, and even a styling gel can do the trick. Add it to damp hair, comb out from the bold part, and then comb the front upward to create the stylish swoop or pomp.

Short Messy Spiked Up Hair with Fade

If this sounds like the message you’re trying to convey, then ask your barber for 2-3-in long textured layers with some weight snipped out. Short haircuts for men are infinitely versatile, and a bald fade is a perfect partner to many styles. A bald fade will add a pinch of extra spice to quiffs, slick backs, pompadours, and more. A typical fade may take the hair down to a No. 2, while a bald fade blends to skin level. If you’re feeling hesitant, start with a low fade which is a more subtle way to wear one of these on-trend short haircuts for men. Your barber will start the fading process around ear level, creating a softer contrast between the skin-shaved areas and the length on top.

Hairstyles for Diamond Face Shape

With a full beard, this masculine hairstyle will attractive women all around. Use a medium-hold styling product to develop a textured finish while maintaining shape and control. There’s no shame in a receding hairline; just ask Matthew McConaughey and Henry Cavil. Likewise, there’s no need to hide your hairline or shave it away when there are short haircuts for men that will help flatter your hair. Opt for styles with a longer top and short sides; think modern comb-over or faux hawk. For men with short hair, layers are a great look regardless of hair texture.

Here, the hair on top of the head is cut the shortest length while the section around the hairline is the longest. Then by trimming the midsections, it’s possible to create a contrast between the short and long sections and improve volume. A side part hair cut is classy and paired with long hair, it transforms traditional into trendy. Sweep the larger portion of the hair to one side for a smoldering and sexy vibe that is the perfect men’s hairstyle for those thick and treasured tresses.

High and Tight Fade

Naturally thick wavy hair adds height, volume, and texture, which is only accentuated by the short hair on the sides. Men’s curls seem to take on a life of their own when they are cut short, and the unique look is perfect for many of today’s popular textured styles. It’s a simple cut that fades into skin at the back and the ears and pairs nicely with a shaped beard. With many of today’s most popular styles being all about the volume, it comes as no surprise that men will defy gravity to create unbelievable volume and flow. In this case, hair about 6 inches long styles a modern combed over pompadour with a twist, and the extra-short sides with a bald fade make it appear even taller.

Incorporate shaved lines and highlights for a result that turns heads. The long brush back look is a timeless cut that will look simple and dapper with a low taper fade on the sides to complement the style. If you’re looking to keep your hair long but you still like to add a bit of pop to your style, then grab some pomade and slick it all back for this timeless look.

This slick back still requires a high-hold product with shine, but in this case, it’s brushed back and to the side for a natural flow. If you like the idea of spikes but a mohawk (or even faux hawk) is too bold for your taste, this spiky hairstyle with a short fade may spark your interest. Just apply some pomade to damp hair and use a brush to pull hair up and slightly over to one side, using your fingertips to style the textured spikes. The modern side swept hairstyle is a trendy and sexy option that can look extra masculine with a full beard. It’s perfect for men who have thick hair between 3 and 5 inches long. To style it, simply brush your hair to one side, being sure to leave it textured and messy in the process.

You can ask your barber for a burst fade with a mohawk to create an edgy and rebellious look that’s wearable everywhere. Style this modern mohawk with a strong product to create a style that will always stand out. While from the front, the fade is kept nice and tight, the back tapers into a mohawk, adding a bit of edge. It’s no surprise that military-style cuts are the easiest short haircuts for men to maintain.

You will need to style medium-length hair on top in textured pieces that seem to flow backward from the front and offer a small bit of fringe and height in the front. If you have thick, wavy hair, it may seem as if your hairstyle options are numbered. Fortunately, you can easily get the side-swept look that is professional, trendy and relatively easy to get. All you need is a moderate hold and shine pomade to coax hair into place with a brush. Bold fringe is ideal for men who want a boyish, high-maintenance look without all the work.

They are a style that proves retro short haircuts for men are a fun, attention-grabbing look for the guy who doesn’t take himself too seriously. The modern mullet brings a fresh take to the short in the front, long in the back cut with taper fade sides. Short spiky hair was the most popular short haircut for men in the 90s. For the full effect, you’ll need to style your hair after washing with matte-effect products.

In the first look photos, Robbie and Gosling were seen roller skating down the boardwalk in Venice Beach. The doll which you may recognize from the movie played by Ryan Gosling features an entirely new look with several accessories. Get ready to move over Barbie because Mattel is releasing yet another toy doll from the hit film Barbie. The April 29 win put an exclamation point on April, where it went 6-3 for the team’s best month ever.

Ken's Mojo Dojo Casa House included 22 TV screens.

Influenced by Alfred Hitchcock's 1960 film Psycho, the hilltop structure has a winding stair-clad path and is marked by a colorful, funky gated entrance. It's designed to look squashed since the architecture doesn't feature a single right angle. While it lacks some essentials, like a kitchen, Weird Barbie's home is a desirable piece of toy real estate—here's why, with deeper insight from Greenwood and Spencer (including where they got the fun living room rug and bubble chandeliers!).

A Guide to Barbie’s Numerous Professions: See the Doll’s Stints as President, Astronaut and Fashion Trend Forecaster

Barbie has been top of mind ever since the film’s first look images of Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken were released more than a year ago. The Greta Gerwig-directed movie sparked the vibrant Barbiecore trend and birthed seemingly endless collabs with brands like Ruggable and Funboy. Now that we've just surpassed the movie's July 21 theatrical release, the Barbie buzz is hitting its peak. Whether you've seen the movie twice already or are still waiting to catch your first screening, we've laid out all of the can't-miss set and filming location details from this summer's most talked about production. “Barbie” made history at the box office after grossing more than $1 billion worldwide, making it the first film solely directed by a woman to become a billion-dollar movie.

The seemingly white shade on set is, in fact, a very light pink. But for the fluorescent pink shade, the production used Rosco's entire supply. "They used as much paint as we had," Lauren Proud, the vice president of global marketing for Rosco, told the outlet. The Mattel office is meant to be halfway between the real world and Barbie Land. Gerwig described the boardroom as "a six-year-old girl's pink and fluffy heart" in the movie's script. The playful atmosphere emphasizes the childlike qualities of the executives who fill it.

The movie used up one company's global supply of fluorescent pink paint.

Weird Barbie is a made-to-move posable doll that comes in collectible “Barbie the Movie” packaging. Weird Barbie from Greta Gerwig’s hit “Barbie” film has proven so popular that Mattel is now debuting an official Weird Barbie doll. The doll, played in the movie by Kate McKinnon, is supposed to reflect a Barbie doll that has been blemished and mishandled, and is no longer perfect. Johnson had a team-high 17 kills and added 3 blocks and nine digs. “Willow was able to step in with her experience and bring success that she’s had over in Korea back to this team,” said Haneef-Park.

Speaking with The Daily Beast’s Obsessed about their design process, Spencer recalled the moment when she and Greenwood contemplated the destruction they were about to wreak upon their gorgeous creation. ” As we can all see from the toxic-male paradise that made it to screen, her answer was a resounding yes. "It's very interesting because everybody says, Oh my God, it's just like a dream house I used to have," Greenwood says. "And you go, Well, maybe that's what it feels like, which is good, but it's not a dream house. It's the feeling of a dream house."

Painted backdrops are also used for the sequences when characters in the movie travel from Barbie Land to the real world and vice versa. If you're into the slightly surreal look, a mural wallpaper might offer a similar effect in your own home—whether you’re after a Barbie-themed design or a natural landscape. The official Weird Barbie doll created by Mattel is completely modeled after McKinnon’s character. The doll was designed by Javier Meabe, Mattel’s lead product designer.

The Mojo secured the next two of three points, courtesy of kills by Thomas-Ailara and Johnson. The crowd of 3,679 erupted in cheers as the team clinched the set 15-11, sealing not only the victory but also their ninth win of the season. The season will explore each home’s history, as well as the backstories of the buyers and sellers, with McBrayer touring three homes in nine weekly episodes (sadly, the Knoxville home did not make the cut). Each abode will be ranked on attributes such as creativity, commitment to the theme and unique qualities. During the season finale, HGTV will proclaim one the “wildest” of them all. The most popular piece from the whole costume is the white faux fur jacket.

When Ken turns Barbie’s dream house into his "Mojo Dojo Casa House," the redesign is everything you'd expect of a hideous man cave. "I love the fact that if he was in one of his leather chairs, he would have his mini fridges stacked up around him like he's in Game of Thrones," Spencer says. We’ll give you one guess as to what these undisclosed people might’ve had in common. As it turns out, Greenwood and Spencer came at this project with a specific reference point in mind—the pop artist Richard Hamilton’s 1956 collage Just what is it that makes today’s homes so different, so appealing. Like the Mojo Dojo Casa House, the collage is a dissonant amalgamation of imagery, all slapped together around the image of a nude muscle man who is holding a big, orange lollipop in front of his junk.

Painted backgrounds add to Barbie Land’s artificial feel.

She also has followed and consistently written about everything from Taylor Swift to Fire Country, and she's enjoyed every second of it. To see the mojo dojo casa houses on the big screen, Barbie is playing in cinemas nationwide. In addition to Weird Barbie, Mattel has launched Barbie and Ken dolls inspired by looks from the film. A couple of the looks include Ken’s faux fur coat from when he turns Barbie’s Dreamhouse into the Mojo Dojo Casa House, and Barbie and Ken’s retro-inspired skating looks.

On Tuesday, May 7 at 7 p.m., the Mojo return home vs. the Columbus Fury in their final home game at SDSU’s Viejas Arena, aka the mojodojocasahouse (you’ll know that reference if you saw the 2023 “Barbie” movie). As of May 1, the Fury are only one game behind the Mojo, so the final home match up is likely to be a must-win for both teams. From over-the-top castles to multimillion-dollar penthouses, Samir Mezrahi chronicles the houses that people love to hate, on Instagram, Facebook and TikTok. This treehouse was replicated from the toy, which was the doll Chelsea's treehouse.

“Every match matters especially with Columbus (8-11) that’s right on our tail,” said Haneef-Park. HGTV hired Jack McBrayer, the actor and comedian best known for his Emmy-nominated role in 30 Rock. Brayer will lead tours of the "outrageous, one-of-a-kind homes sellers put on the market every day," HGTV said.

“Having a lefty opposite is something that’s very difficult for a block. So it brings another dynamic that a lot of teams just aren’t used to.” Johnson was rewarded for her efforts with Player-of-the-Week honors for the week of April 30. Ali Bastianelli got things off to an electrifying start with an ace for the first point. Despite typically averaging less than one ace per set, the team served up three in the first.

Prepare for an explosion of pink and a reality check in Los Angeles. The price point for Weird Barbie is $50, and it is available for pre-order on Mattel’s website. Weird Barbie is played by Kate McKinnon in the box-office hit "Barbie" movie, now in theaters.

According to NPR, of the 53 films that have broken the $1 billion mark, only nine, including “Barbie,” center around female protagonists. Inspired from the film, Mattel has turned another one of Ken’s iconic looks from the movie into a real toy doll you can buy. Great energy ignited an 8-1 run near the start of the fifth to allow the Mojo some breathing room and a 7-point advantage, 10-3. After leading 13-7, the Valkyries won three straight to pull within three and the Mojo called time out to regroup.

For example, @AlDANS_ posted a silly throwback about Crazy Stupid Love, noting that Gosling’s character Jacob had the OG mojo dojo casa house. And thinking back about all those QVC purchases he made in the 2011 comedy, I totally agree. Weird Barbie (played by Kate Mckinnon)—whose look might remind you of the Cynthia doll in Rugrats—lives in a secluded residence.

"When people were on the top bedroom floor, they had to be wired off," Spencer tells House Beautiful. If you thought the Barbie Land lettering in the film was just a cute design introductory to the fantasy world, you didn't look close enough. "When you go into Barbie Land, you go into the dot of the 'i' of Barbie Land," production designer Sarah Greenwood tells House Beautiful. "So the streets are written as Barbie Land, and the 'i' is the circle that they live in." By now, you know that Barbie leaves her picture-perfect world for the real world.

Our Favorite California Libraries - Cool Places for Great Minds

Goodhue was widely known in California for his influential master plan and building designs for the Panama California Exposition held in San Diego’s Balboa Park in 1915. For the Exposition Goodhue developed an ornate version of the Spanish Colonial Revival style, and the Library Board hired him in hopes he would design something in that idiom. His two final projects, the Nebraska State Capitol and our Los Angeles Central Library are regarded by architectural historians as the most innovative work of his career. The Richard J. Riordan Central Library in downtown Los Angeles is both a leading public research library and a major architectural landmark. Comprised of the original 1926 library now called the Goodhue Building and a 1993 addition named for former mayor Tom Bradley, it ranks with the Bradbury Building and Union Station as a treasure of the city’s historic downtown. The library has been designated a Los Angeles Historic Cultural Monument (#46) and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Bring It to the Ceiling

The structure stands today defiant to the cold glass edges of the neighboring cityscape. Designed to contrast, the library is artistically beautiful on the outside as it is colorful and kaleidoscopic inside. From the street, the structure resembles a capital building with it's massive rotunda and central dome feature. The Los Angeles library association itself has a hard time classifying the overall design, describing it as, and just try to imagine this, an Egyptian flavored version of Art Deco.

The rest of Lawrie’s sculptures preserved from the East Wing have been mounted in the Taper Auditorium lobby. The Tom Bradley Wing contains a number of art projects commissioned as part of the city’s percent for art program administered by the Department of Cultural Affairs. Now empty of its original working function (the catalog has been computerized and circulation relocated to the ground floor), this room can be appreciated as the dramatically beautiful heart of Goodhue’s design. In the process, historic preservation became a national issue and organizations like the Los Angeles Conservancy were born. Finally the conflict was resolved in 1983 with a plan to preserve the original building and create an addition, the whole to be largely financed by a transfer of air rights to neighboring high rise development. The Design Library’s business is the sale and licensing of antique, vintage, modern and contemporary textile designs for inspiration to the fashion, home furnishings, textile, wall covering, graphic arts, and paper product industries. The staff I have met across different areas of the various campuses have all been extremely welcoming and have helped me start to find my place in the Jefferson community. Perry devised a subject-oriented organizational plan for the building and Goodhue and Lawrie collaborated on the development of its architectural and sculptural forms. Through Debris, designers Shoma Furui and Kem Kobayashi aim to communicate the issue of environmental disruption subtly, using party accessories made from marine plastic collected from Makuhari Beach as material. The visually striking appearance resembles a cross-section of buried plastic waste, featuring pop patterns and textures created by the resin.

“Many library systems are in the process of upgrading, renovating and/or building new main and branch libraries all over the country. Here in California, the Sacramento Public Library and the County of Los Angeles Library systems are just two that are extremely busy with both large and small construction projects. For more info on this building, you can watch a lecture about its architectural details, or read a short history of that and earlier El Paso library buildings at the Visit El Paso blog. Azusa is a relatively small city east of Los Angeles in the San Gabriel Valley. From 1950 to when this library was built in 1959, the city’s population nearly doubled from around 11,000 to just over 20,000 people. Mostly smooth stone and windows on the outside, the indoor space is one long room allowing for a mixture of age groups and use.

Julius Shulman (1910–2009) was a renowned architectural photographer who popularized mid-century modern architecture with his elegant photographs. Some of his prodigious output is accessible online through the Getty Research Institute, where I found these photos of the Asuza Public Library (and the one that follows). When I see a building, piece of furniture, type, or graphic design that is spare and functional, full of long lines and quadrilaterals, made of simple materials, and connected to its environment, it gives me a distinctly calm feeling. When I see a mid-century modern building, the world slows down, it makes sense. The other project, entitled Illuminations by Ann Preston, consists of four columnar light fixtures installed on the escalator landings at each level along the atrium’s inner wall. The sculptor was Lee Lawrie who had collaborated with Goodhue on a number of major commissions. Lawrie’s sculptures for the library revolve around a theme, Light of Learning, devised by University of Nebraska philosophy professor Hartley Burr Alexander. Goodhue and Lawrie first worked with Alexander on the Nebraska state capitol, and for both buildings, Alexander developed subject matter for the sculpture and chose or authored the inscriptions used on both exterior and interior. The result is a distinctive combination of a building strikingly modern in style, yet traditional in the way it uses art to symbolize and celebrate its cultural function.
